Advanced Standing and Regular Standing

Advanced Standing (AS) admission is for applicants with an undergraduate degree in social work from a program accredited by the CSWE. Advanced Standing students complete 38 credits and 600 hours of field practicum for their degree.  Advanced standing program options include:

  • One year weekday/evening (Full-time)
  • Two year weekday/evening
  • Three year weekday/evening
  • Hybrid MSW: Two years

Regular Standing (RS) admission is for applicants without an undergraduate degree in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Regular Standing students complete 56 credits and 1,000 hours of field practicum for their degree. Regular standing options include:

  • Two year weekday/evening (Full-time)
  • Three year weekday/evening
  • Four year weekday/evening
  • Hybrid MSW: Three years

Weekday/evening and Hybrid MSW options

Weekday/evening courses are offered in the afternoon (1:35 - 4:00 pm), late afternoon (4:40-7:05 pm), and evening (7:20-9:45 pm) to accommodate field practicum placements and graduate students who are working professionals. Classes are offered weekly, Mondays through Thursdays, at the St. Catherine and St. Thomas campuses in St. Paul.  Each class meets once per week. Monday and Wednesday classes are held at St. Kate's; Tuesday and Thursday classes are held at St. Thomas.
