Advanced Standing (AS) admission is for applicants with an undergraduate degree in social work from a program accredited by the CSWE. Advanced Standing students complete 42 credits and 600 hours of field practicum for their degree. Advanced standing program options include:
Regular Standing (RS) admission is for applicants without an undergraduate degree in social work from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Regular Standing students complete 60 credits and 1,000 hours of field practicum for their degree. Regular standing options include:
Weekday/evening courses are offered in the afternoon (1:35 - 4:00 pm), late afternoon (4:40-7:05 pm), and evening (7:20-9:45 pm) to accommodate field practicum placements and graduate students who are working professionals. Classes are offered weekly Mondays through Thursdays at the St. Catherine and St. Thomas campuses in St. Paul. Monday/Wednesday classes are held at St. Kate's; Tuesday/Thursday classes are held at St. Thomas.
The weekend cohort is a distance learning option that meets on campus once per month (Fridays 12:15-9:15 pm and Saturdays 8:00 am – 5:00 pm). Although primarily serving students who commute from Greater Minnesota and surrounding states, the weekend cohort option is available for students in the seven-county metro area as well. Weekend cohort classes meet at the University of St. Thomas' St. Paul campus.
