Three social work students presented their community-based research at Oct. 6 Inquiry at UST poster session

On October 6, BSW students Carissa Franklin, Stephanie Lien, and Ellen Mathiowetz presented their community-based research at the Inquiry at UST poster session held at the University of St. Thomas. 

Through an extremely competitive grant process this spring, the three students were awarded the research grants to work with faculty advisor, Dr. Ande Nesmith, and partner with a local nonprofit to do their work over the summer.

The students showcased the following projects:

  • Carissa Franklin: Trauma-informed Parenting: Perspectives from Foster Parents, a collaboration with Family Alternatives
  • Stephanie Lien: Understanding the Counseling Process in Text-Based Crisis Services, a collaboration with Canvas Health TXT4Life Program
  • Ellen Mathiowetz: Fostering Connections: Promoting Connectedness and Socio-Emotional Well-being among Foster Youth, a collaboration with Connections to Independence
