BSW Supervision:  The Basics of Generalist, Agency-Based Supervision

3 CEH's

Presented by Jane Hurley Johncox, MSW, LICSW

The focus of this workshop is supervision for generalist BSW social workers who provide critical services to individuals, families, groups, communities, and organizations and respond to many complex challenges.  To assist social workers with this challenging work, supervisors establish relationships with supervisees to guide their practice by providing administrative oversight, education on best practices, and therapeutic support.  Along with attending to these three areas of supervision, supervisors must also have a thorough understanding of organizational culture and structure and how these influence practice.

With a focus on the generalist BSW social worker, participants in this training will be able to:

  1. Identify the three primary areas of supervision
  2. Articulate the primary aspects of organizational culture and change, and
  3. Describe how the three dimensions of supervision and organizational culture interact to support quality generalist BSW social worker supervision.
