MSW Student Association Meeting
All MSW students are members of MSWSA. Help determine this year's priorities!
Date & Time:
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM
Summit Classroom Building, Community Room, University of St. Thomas. 2100 Summit Ave., Saint Paul, MN 55105
Every MSW student is a member of MSWSA! Our first meeting of the year will be held on Friday, September 13, from 5:30 - 6:30 pm in the Summit Classroom Building Student Lounge. There will be food!
The MSWSA targets professional development, service activities, and social events. Some examples of the work that has been by students in previous years includes:
- Path to Social Work Licensure activities and event - targeting professional development and licensure prep and support
- Service Activities - providing support to programs and grass roots organization that focus on those with serious and persistent mental health issues
- Social Activities - social events with other MSW students to build connections and support and add some fun to seriousness of graduate school, including the end of the year party.
As a student leader, you get to determine the priorities for the MSWSA in collaboration with the rest of the student body. Typically, we meet 1x per month for 1 hour to check-in and plan events (and have food). Your level of involvement is completely up to you. On the other hand, the MSWSA always has a few students that take a leadership role in the association. This can be a rewarding experience and often leads to university and state recognition as student social work leaders.
The MSWSA faculty chair is Jane Hurley Johncox, MSW, LICSW, Clinical Faculty and Director/Coordinator of Student and Career Services. Please email her at email@example.com if you are planning to attend the meeting. Drop-ins are also welcomed and encouraged!
