The MSW Area of Emphasis Scholars host Marsha Berry from Training to Serve, who will conduct training focused on the unique needs of LGBT older adults.
Whether you know it or not, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) older adults are your clients and patients. This session will outline LGBT aging, describe the unique issues facing these populations, present findings from a recent needs assessment, and identify actions you can take to make your practice more LGBT culturally competent.

At the end of this session participants will be able to:
- Explain the differences between sexual orientation and gender identity
- Describe the risks LGBT elders face as they seek formal social services
- List resources to support LGBT older adults
