We know you care about the world and are passionate about making it a little better than you found it. We’d love to help you make that happen.
The Office for Service and Social Justice is your hub for matters related to service and social justice. Here you can take on a leadership role in one of our service programs, connect with volunteer opportunities in the Tommies Together Volunteer Center, or join the conversation about how to create a world where justice thrives.
The Office for Service and Social Justice supports several programs geared toward service and engagement. Each year, students in these programs are immersed in new cultural environments, play music for seniors in local nursing homes, advocate for a more just world, and redefine their sense of community.
Domestic and international service and cultural immersion trips during J-term and Spring Break. VISION trips are formed around six components: Service, Simplicity, Spirituality, Community, Cultural Exchange, and Justice Issues. Past participants have confronted questions of immigration, land use, poverty, and public policy as they visited places like Guatemala, the Virgin Islands, White Earth Indian Reservation, and Washington, D.C.
Volunteers-In-Action (VIA) is aimed at serving the people of the Twin Cities Metro Area. VIA works to educate students on social justice issues present in the Cities and issues they may encounter at their specific site. VIA also hosts the Holiday Dinner for the Dorothy Day Center, sponsors on-campus service days, like Community Clean-Up Day, and much more! VIA is a great way to get involved on-campus and meet other students who are interested in serving!
CRS Student Ambassadors are working hard to mobilize campus engagement in tangible acts of solidarity with the global poor to build a more just and peaceful world! Advocacy and awareness are just the beginning.
