The Advisory Board discussed a significant goal of the Opus College of Business - to provide excellent education to students (both undergraduate and graduate) on Risk and many interrelated topics, including ERM, compliance, corporate social responsibility, insurance, and technology/cyber risks. In addition, the Initiative supports online learning for students with blended format courses and working professionals. Look for professional certificate offerings from the Opus College of Business and UST’s Law school starting in 2018. Risk Leadership is about collaborating across colleges, industries and the many types of risk-related leadership roles to enhance learning options. “We look to learn from our active and engaged Advisory Board and seek to draw information from current students to assess and continually improve our course offerings,” shared Dr. Peter Young, 3M Endowed Chair and Opus professor.
Looking ahead to a three-year plan, the Advisory Board also gave input on key program differentiators, values, and goals for the Initiative. The meeting was held in one of Opus’s redesigned classrooms, selected for its “Google-like” innovation environment. Primed for “start-up” thinking, the group embraced an open, non-linear approach to sharing ideas that will position the Risk Leadership Initiative to provide real benefits to its varied stakeholders.
As this next year progresses, look for updates from the Advisory Board, and opportunities to participate and provide input into events and topics that are most important to you and your organization. We welcome your input anytime, as we shape our strategy and first year goals. Contact us at: http://www.stthomas.edu/risk_leadership/about/contactus/
