Welcome and congratulations on your acceptance to St. Thomas! Housing is not required for first-year students, but over 92% of first-year students live on campus. To reserve your place in the class and apply for on-campus housing, submitting your confirming and housing deposits through your student portal.

Building, room, and roomamte assignments will be sent to a student's St. Thomas email in the evening of July 23, 2018.

In April, those students who have submitted both housng and confirming deposits will receive informaton on how to submit their housing preferences including Living Learning Communities (LLCs), Building Preferences, and Roommate Matching. We strongly encourage students to not use social media for roommate matching, particularly those interested in LLCs, and trust our questionnaire will match them with the best possible roommates. A majority of our roommate conflicts the previous three years have arisen from those students who found each other on social media sites.

The Move-In date for 2018-2019 First-Year students is Friday, August 31, 2018.  Please plan accordingly!

Students involved in varsity sports, living learning communities, transfer students, and international students will move in prior to this date with more information being sent in early August 2018.

Application Process

Application Process for Prospective Students

Housing applications are provided to newly accepted students by the Admissions office. Speak to your Admissions Counselor for further information. A $200 deposit is required to request housing space and is also handled by your Admissions Counselor. Housing is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and is not guaranteed by the university.  Any deposits for housing are fully refundable until May 1. Note: This is not a deadline to submit a deposit as most deposits are received before March 15 and those with earlier deposit dates are more likely to get their first choice in housing. Preference information is collected in April for the following fall and students are notified of their housing assignment at the end of June.

By placing your $200 deposit, you are agreeing to the terms of the Student Residence Agreement, which is an agreement for the entire academic year.  This $200 deposit is credited to your first tuition statement in August.

Single Rooms

Some single rooms are available to new resident students. Many of the available single rooms on campus are used by upperclass students. A few singles on special-option floors such as the First Year Experience, may be available for new students.

Priority status is based on the original date of application and other preference choices. Most of the single rooms on campus are smaller in size and a different room charge. Single rooms are available in Ireland, Dowling, Brady, Cretin, Grace, Flynn and Morrison Halls.

Microfridge Rental and Futon Purchase Information

Microfridges may be rented from www.bedloft.com and must be completed by August 12 for in-room delivery.  Also you may purchase a futon for delivery through this company that will be delivered to the room.  Please check out their website for more information and pricing.

Residence Hall Linen Program

University of St. Thomas has been offering the Residence Hall Linens program since 1999. Students at University of St. Thomas require specially-sized sheets, blankets and comforters to fit the campus's extra long mattresses. These extra-long beds (longer than 76 inches) are intended to maximize the comfort levels of every student. Our goal each year is to make sure students and parents have the right size residence hall bedding for move-in. XL sheets are more difficult to find, so we provide a variety of custom-sized linens sure to fit and guaranteed to last until graduation. We also have a large selection of extra-long comforters, extra-long mattress pads, extra-long thermal blankets, pillows, storage solutions and anything else you might need for your new room.

Guarantee Your First Choice Today! Our best selection of college bedding and a guarantee of your first choice is available for parents and students who respond early. All our residence hall room bedding and accessories come with a 100% satisfaction guarantee right up to graduation. You may return your linens for a full refund if you are not satisfied for any reason. Visit www.rhl.org/ust to view our full selection of colors and patterns and to place your order.
