The Dease Scholarship, named after St. Thomas's fourteenth president, is a full-tuition scholarship generally awarded to students of color, first-generation students and graduates from urban high schools who demonstrate commitment to academic excellence, leadership and their communities. Applicants must be incoming first-year students. Applications are due late second semester. Click on the image for more detailed information.
The summer between high school and college can be filled with cyclical feelings of excitement and anxiety. Sometimes it can lead to "summer melt," which refers to accepted students deciding not to attend college in the fall. Statistically, "1 in 5 college-bound students fail to matriculate in the fall." Summer Nudging is a series of weekly text messages -- "nudges" -- designed to encourage college-bound students to enter into college after high school graduation.
Student Diversity and Inclusion Services coordinates the Reaching Excellence in Academics and Leadership (REAL) Program, a selective, five-week academic and co-curricular orientation program for students who are members of groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education (including students of color, asylees, refugees, and permanent residents) that are newly committed to attending the University of St. Thomas.
Orientation & Registration (O&R) is designed to help in your transition to the University of St. Thomas. At O&R, you will get personal attention regarding any concerns or questions you may have as an incoming student. You will also have the chance to meet future classmates, explore the campus, and learn the "ins and outs" of college life from current St. Thomas student leaders. For first-year students, you can expect to develop a better understanding of the curriculum and finalize your class schedule.
Welcome Days is a required comprehensive educational and social program designed to prepare incoming first-year students to succeed at St. Thomas. The program begins at 5 pm on Friday, September 1 and runs through our March Through the Arches celebration on Tuesday, September 5.
