Mission of the University of St. Thomas Prolife Center
Throughout the Twin Cities and the country, many organizations work toward prolife goals. From supporting mothers with unexpected pregnancies to providing counseling to women considering abortion, these groups fill a critical need in our community.
At the University of St. Thomas Prolife Center our mission is to meet another need. We work each day with the goal of achieving legal protection of all human life, including the unborn, the elderly and the very ill.
Training and education are key.
If we are going to see the day when our country’s laws respect all life, we need more lawyers who are equipped with a deep desire to change the law as well as the knowledge and skills needed to do so.
The Prolife Center’s mission is to provide training and education for passionate prolife law students and attorneys. To do this, we will:
- Train law students to work with local and national government officials to advance prolife proposals
- Provide continuing legal education (CLE) programming for practicing attorneys
- Host events with leading prolife speakers
- Produce scholarly research regarding prolife legal issues
These are only some of the ways we aim to empower law students and attorneys to protect life. Blessed John Paul II said that we are to “never tire of firmly speaking out in defense of life from its conception.” Simply put, our mission is to give law students and attorneys the necessary tools to effectively do just that.
