Don't Bring COVID-19 Home for Thanksgiving

Fall and winter holiday breaks often include large gatherings of families and friends, crowded parties, and travel that may put people at increased risk for COVID-19. We know that these times together are really important, but in an ongoing pandemic with widespread transmission, the safest option right now is for everyone to stay home. However, if your student is traveling to be with family or friends for Thanksgiving remind them to:

  • semi-quarantine two weeks before coming home (still attend class but limit social gatherings)
  • get a COVID test at the Center for Well-Being even if they do not have symptoms
The University of St. Thomas, in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Health, is hosting a two-day COVID-19 saliva testing event in the Anderson Athletic & Recreation Complex on November 18 & November 19 from 8:30am - 4:30pm. Testing is free. For questions, call the COVID-19 Info Line at 651-962-6133.

We recommend students get tested the week of November 16, 2020, so their results can be back before they return home for Thanksgiving. If your student is not able to test during the two-day COVID-19 saliva testing event, encourage your student to call the Center for Well-Being for an appointment to get tested at 651-962-6750.
