SNAP Benefit Updates

Congress has approved changes which expand eligibility for college students enrolled at least half-time to receive monthly benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

In addition to the existing criteria (being a U.S. citizen and meeting the income guidelines), college students may be eligible if they meet one of the following requirements:

  • Eligible to participate in a federal or state work-study program
  • Have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of $0 based on their FAFSA for the 2020-21 or 2021-22 academic year
