Renter Education Opportunities

This is the time of year where students begin making decisions about where they would like to live next year. If your student is considering renting a property off campus next year, be sure to encourage them to be well informed before signing a lease.

We continued our annual offering of Renter 101. The Renter 101 workshop is an informational session open to all students, but intended for students who are considering renting properties off campus or weighing their housing options for the upcoming academic year. During this workshop, students learned about rental contracts and leases, how to be a good neighbor, the myths of living off-campus, and many other topics related to renting.  If your student missed the program, encourage them to contact Off-Campus Student Services ( to schedule an appointment to get the information.

Additionally this year we are again offering our Student Tenant Education Program (STEP).  This intensive two-hour course provides students with fundamental resources and knowledge about living off campus. If our information session was Renter 101, this is Renter 301. Content will include tenant responsibilities, understanding a lease, the landlord-tenant relationship, and living in a mixed-residential community.

The STEP sessions will take place Thursdays, April 6 & 13 at 12 Noon For more information, visit the STEP website at: or sign up by emailing us at
