Seniors Eligible for 'Green' Move-out Program
If your student is a senior who lives in the Merriam Park or Macalester-Groveland neighborhood near the St. Paul campus, he or she may be eligible for a Green Move-Out program that the West Summit Neighborhood Advisory Committee (WSNAC) is piloting this year.
The goal is twofold:
1) Help seniors keep material out of the waste stream by donating usable goods and recycling whatever they can.
2) Keep old furniture, clothing and household items off the boulevards of our city streets, which adds to a perception that some Tommies are privileged and wasteful.
The WSNAC program is a pilot, and we will learn as we go. We expect to be able to serve only five to 10 households. Contact Director of Neighborhood Relations Amy Gage at 651-962-6123 if your daughter or son is a senior and interested in working with us toward a Green Move-Out.
