The Optimism Project is a social change project implemented this semester through programs and events sponsored by the Wellness Center, in conjunction with students in Drs. Braswell and Giebenhain’s Fall 2016 psychology classes. Students provided ideas on how to increase student motivation, optimism and gratitude on campus. Dr. Braswell recently gave a talk about the positive benefits of cultivating gratitude. This spring semester has already shown positive changes and reactions across campus!
St. Thomas community members can register to receive occasional text messages regarding the Optimism Project on the Wellness Center website. Texts may include fun facts about optimism, how to show gratitude in your daily life, and ways to bring positivity into everything you do!
The Wellness Center website also includes various upcoming Optimism Project events. A popular recurring program is a thank you note event where attendees write a thank you note to someone they know and mail it for free through the Wellness Center.
