ABOUT THE EXHIBITION: Wanderlust is the strong or irresistible impulse to travel and explore, driven by a desire to escape and leave behind the familiar. Digital technology allows for instantaneous travel, but gives only an abstracted view of the world, devoid of any real sense or awareness. Through her physical manipulation of images, Alyssa Baguss invites us to reevaluate our relationship with the changing natural world, reminding us there is more beyond the screen
ABOUT THE ARTIST: Alyssa Baguss’s practice explores mediated natural environments through drawing processes and participatory public programming. She is a visual artist and arts program director, who works out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Alyssa is a 2015 and 2017 recipient of the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant and the 2017-18 Jerome Emerging Artist Fellowship Program. Her work has been exhibited in the Twin Cities and regionally, including the Burnet Gallery, Soo Visual Arts Center, Minnesota Museum of American Art, Minnesota Center for Book Arts and the Rochester Art Center.
