  • "When the bank forecloses your church," Jewish Journal, March 25, 2009. "While mainline Protestant churches have been losing members for years, they don't have these bankruptcy problems. There are two reasons for that, said Valerie Munson, an expert on church property law at the University of St. Thomas School of Law in Minneapolis. Theologically, when mainline Protestants (your Lutherans, Presbyterians, Methodists and other WASPy types) open a chapel or sanctuary, they symbolically give it to God. 'To them, the space itself is dedicated to God and holy,' Munson said. 'To place a mortgage on the property—to give a secular bank a business interest in the property—is contrary to that holy purpose to them. It is giving to someone else part of what you have given to God.' In contrast, evangelicals don't think about their relationship to God in terms of space itself being dedicated to the Almighty, Munson said.   • "Tennis event also serves as economic engine in Beaufort County," Beaufort (Hilton Head, S.C.) Gazette, March 25, 2009. "Since the late 1980s, coach Terry Peck of the University of St. Thomas regularly has led teams
    from his school in St. Paul, Minn., to the event. He estimates his groups of 35 to 40 spend more per person than typical families of tourists. While here, the players and their entourages buy everything from tennis balls to bug spray. They also go out at night. Peck said one former player moved to Hilton Head to become a teacher, and another returned to get married with the help of a local planner. Peck even is considering moving to the area to teach tennis after he leaves college coaching. Marsh has been announced by the National Association of Basketball Coaches as a member of its 2009 NCAA Division III All-West Region men's basketball team. Marsh was one of six players named to the first team, with the others being center Jeff Skemp of UW-Platteville, forward Jason Foster of the University of Puget Sound (Wash.) and guards Myles McKay of UW-Whitewater, Joe Scott of the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) and Andre Wagner of Buena Vista University (Iowa).
