On Monday, Sept. 21, faculty, staff and students will be invited to participate in an online survey that will be used to gather university-wide input regarding issues relevant to a campus master planning process.
St. Thomas has commenced on a 14-month comprehensive campus master planning process. The campus master plan will include an evaluation of site and physical facilities along with an assessment of current academic programs and space utilization on the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses. The goal is to develop a vision and strategy for the best use of the university’s lands, including plans for new buildings and other facilities necessary to achieve our educational goals.
Hastings+Chivetta, headquartered in St. Louis, has been hired to assist the university with the development of the campus master plan. Five workshops will be held this academic year to gather information, analyze data, meet with stakeholders, review concepts and finalize the plan. Assisting Hastings+Chivetta with the campus master planning process will be:

“This campus master planning process is an exciting opportunity to align the physical development of our campuses with the university’s strategic plan and mission,” said Jim Brummer, associate vice president for facilities management. “The comprehensive nature along with the collaborative planning and design approach will provide stakeholders plenty of opportunity to be part of this important process.”
A Campus Master Planning Advisory Committee has been established and includes representatives from a variety of campus departments, including facilities, academic, residence life, university facility support functions, the faculty and the Board of Trustees. Committee members are:
