Social Work Hosts Summit on Emerging Practice Issues

The School of Social Work’s Field Practice Institute well present its First Annual Summit on Emerging Practice Issues on Tuesday, Aug. 7. The topic of the inaugural event is “Clinical Social Work in Medical Settings.” The summit will provide an opportunity for social workers, field instructors, students and faculty to dialogue on current practice issues.

Topics will include articulating clinical social work practice in medical settings, writing supervision plans for the Minnesota Board of Social Work, the role of social workers on the interdisciplinary team, and professional leadership and advocacy for social work in medical settings. Time will be spent learning about and discussing current trends, challenges and successes, developing action plans, and developing opportunities for collaboration.

The summit will be held from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, in the third-floor Rauenhorst Hall of Coeur de Catherine on St. Catherine University's St. Paul campus.
