Dr. Mary Anne Chalkley, Psychology Department, presented a poster, "Parent-Adolescent Communication: How Quality of Relationship and Topic Affect Conversations," at the biennial meeting of the Society for Research in Child Development March 29-April 1 in Boston. The work is a collaboration with former student (and co-author) Erin Droege '05.
Dr. J. Thomas Ippoliti, Chemistry Department, gave an invited talk, "Drug Conjugate, Drug Delivery Matrices and Novel Biodegradable Polymers," Feb. 22 at Boston Scientific. The presentation was broadcast to other Boston Scientific locations in Massachusetts and in Galway, Ireland. The talk was based on research done by undergraduate students whom Ippoliti directed during the past year. The research is the basis of several patents being pursued in these areas.
Dr. John Kemper, Mathematics Department, and UST alumnae Erin Hedican '05, of the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, and Nicole Lanie '06, of Western Michigan University, are the authors of an article, "Modeling Biomarker Dynamics With Implications for Treatment of Prostate Cancer," which will appear in an upcoming issue of Computational and Mathematical Methods in Medicine, an interdisciplinary journal of mathematical, theoretical and clinical aspects of medicine.
Dr. Robert Monson, School of Engineering, received the Lockheed Martin Corp. MS2's Inventor of the Year Award. The award was given in recognition of Monson's 58 U.S. patents and four trade secrets and as a result of nominations by his peers at Lockheed Martin. MS2, Maritime Systems and Sensors, is a business segment within the Electronic Systems business area of Lockheed Martin. Monson, an engineer for Lockheed Martin, is an adjunct faculty member at St. Thomas.
