Dr. Sarah Noonan will speak on 'The Power of Story and Learning' on Thursday

Dr. Sarah Noonan, associate professor, Leadership, Policy and Administration Department in the College of Applied Professional Studies, will speak on “The Power of Story and Learning” on Thursday, March 4.

Noonan will give examples of the power of story through facilitated dialogues organized around powerful episodes of learning such as: taking risks, experiencing change, finding a voice for social action or recovering from a wounding event.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in Room 252, Terrence Murphy Hall, Minneapolis campus.

At the close of the workshop, participants will understand the transformational and interactive nature of story, experience several techniques for facilitating the exchange of stories with college students and adult learners, and understand how story serves as the foundation for dialogue and intercultural communication.

Register on the Leadership Academy Web site.

Noonan wrote Leadership Through Story: Diverse Voices in Dialogue (2007) with Dr. Tom Fish, and teaches graduate classes in leadership, communication and administrative preparation for principal and superintendent candidates.
