Students can donate cost of a meal to help Haiti

University of St. Thomas students who have meal plans have the opportunity this week to donate the monetary equivalent of a meal to help victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti.

The project, called United for Haiti, is raising funds for Haiti Outreach Inc., a charity based in Minnetonka that is helping the people of Haiti.

To participate in the project, students can register at sign-up stations located at the cafeteria entrances on both the north and south campus.

Participants need to provide their name, St. Thomas ID number and a signature. A meal will be removed from her or his meal plan and the monetary equivalent of the meal will be sent to the charity.

Volunteers who can help at the cafeteria sign-up stations are welcome. For more information, e-mail Brian Osende.
