Classical and flamenco guitarist Tony Hauser will perform works by Spanish pianist and composer Isaac Albeniz in an 8 p.m. concert Friday, May 16, in the auditorium of the Brady Educational Center on the St. Paul campus of the University of St. Thomas.

Titled “Espana,” the concert is sponsored by the University’s Department of Music and is free and open to the public.

The program is named for the Albeniz six-movement work for piano, Opus 165 “Espana.” All of the work’s arrangements are Hauser’s and include many works that have never before been attempted on the guitar.

The concert also will include original compositions by Hauser. His compositions are based on traditional flamenco forms, but with modern perspectives. For this portion of the program, he will be accompanied by David Gregory on guitar and cajon.
