Christmas Club Checks Now Available

$101,207.08 in Christmas Club Checks are waiting for 101 thrifty CU members who started saving for Christmas 2014 back in November 2013. The Christmas checks, in bright green envelopes, can be picked up at the CU office, 209 Loras Hall, during regular hours this week. If a check has not been claimed by 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, it will be mailed to the same address where statements are sent. Requests for any different handling can be left at (651) 962-6660 or by email to creditunion@stthomas.edu.

Christmas checks contain all deposits made from Nov. 1, 2013 through Oct. 31, 2014, plus a .25 percent annual dividend, posted on Oct. 31, 2014. Christmas Club 2015 is now open, and any payroll deduction deposits to the 2014 club will continue into the new account, unless a change is made by the member. Change forms are available at the CU office. Deposits also can be made by check or money order at any time.

For any member who has not saved ahead for Christmas spending, the CU will again be offering Santa Special loans. These loans can be written for up to $1,000 at 10 percent interest with a term of one year. The loans are available to any CU member in good standing who has a Beacon (Equifax) credit score of 600 or higher. There will be no exceptions to this credit score requirement. The CU’s limit of $40,000 in cumulative loans to any one member at any one time does remain in place. The Santa loans will be processed from Monday, Nov. 17, through Tuesday, Dec. 23, but applications can be submitted at any time. Application forms are available at the CU office.
