Tommie Traditions: Tree and Creche Lighting
University NewsThe tradition dates back to 1948 when the Christophori Club, a Catholic organization on campus at the time, and the Tommie Tennants, a campus residents' club, saw to the construction of a crèche. -
School of Engineering's STEPS Camp Lands Prestigious Tekne Award
University NewsTekne Awards are given annually by the Minnesota High Tech Association in honor of companies, innovations and people for technological breakthroughs that improve the lives and futures of people living in Minnesota and around the world. STEPS, which is short for Science, Technology and Engineering Preview Summer Camp for Girls, won in the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education division. -
Students Aim to Bring 'Life,' in More Ways Than One, to Africa
University NewsSeniors Samali Mutazindwa and Netsanet Negussie, and Mathew Vicknair '13 are working to bring their program, Maysha, which means "life" in Swahili, to underserved communities in East Africa. The program will focus on health care literacy and malaria intervention. -
