Administration Seeks Input From Class of 2014 on Commencement Location

Student Affairs, Alumni and Constituent Relations, and the Undergraduate Student Government Junior Class Council are partnering to survey the class of 2014 to gain its input on the May 2014 commencement location.

The survey will be distributed on Monday, Dec. 3, to the UST email accounts of all full-time UST students with junior status and will close at midnight Friday, Dec. 7. Results from the survey will assist administrators in determining the location of the 2014 commencement.

The survey will give students the opportunity to indicate a preference between two options:

  • The first option is to hold the ceremony outdoors on campus at Palmer Field. In the event of inclement weather the ceremony would be moved to the field house of the Anderson Athletic and Recreation Complex. Because of the large size of the class of 2014, only graduates and faculty members would be seated in the field house. Family members, friends, staff and other students would view the ceremony via live video feed from remote locations on campus (e.g., Anderson Student Center, Murray-Herrick Campus Center).
  • The second option is to hold the event indoors at an off-campus venue. This venue would accommodate all graduates, family, friends, other students, staff and faculty and no rain plan would be necessary.
