New full-time faculty and staff at St. Thomas will now have a one-year waiting period for tuition remission benefits.
The president's staff recently approved the change in the tuition remission policy as another step toward reducing university operating expenses while holding down undergraduate tuition increases.
All full-time faculty and staff hired on or after July 1, 2010, are eligible for tuition remission for themselves and their eligible dependents after completing one year of continuous service. This new waiting period also applies to eligible dependents of new employees enrolled at the four other member schools in the Associated Colleges of the Twin Cities consortium (Augsburg College, Hamline University, Macalester College and St. Catherine University).
St. Thomas' current three-year waiting period for eligible part-time employees and their dependents will not change.
