Mona Mann currently teaches 5th and 6th grade general music at Roosevelt Middle School in River Forest, Illinois. She leads the Roosevelt Recorder Ensemble, and plays regularly with her own group, Recorder Disorder. She earned her undergraduate degree at Indiana University in Flute and French, as well as a performance certificate from the Conservatoire National in Strasbourg, France and a Master’s in Music Education from Northern Illinois University. She completed her Orff-Schulwerk levels at the University of Saint Thomas and the University of Kentucky. Mrs. Mann has presented for the Fox Valley Orff-Schulwerk conference and at the AOSA National Conference, as well as for the Junior Music Educators conference in northern Illinois.

Mona H. Mann

Using the first book in Isabel McNeill Carley's series, participants will explore the 11 lessons within, gaining an understanding of how to teach the recorder from an Orff-Schulwerk perspective, while at the same time building a repertoire of pedagogy lessons for use in the general music classroom. Participants will improve their own playing and improvisation skills, gaining confidence and knowledge to recorder teaching in their own classroom setting.
