Teaching Movement and Dance - There's a Sequence for That, Too?

Ever teach your students a new movement activity and it totally bombs?  How did this happen?  Come to this hands on interactive workshop to learn a sequential approach to teaching movement in the elementary general music classroom.   Songs, games and dances will be shared that follow the sequence from K-6th grade (and beyond!).

Karla Cherwinski has been teaching elementary general music for 24 years.  Currently she teaches at Indian Trail Elementary in Canal Winchester, Ohio where she works with 1st and 2nd graders. She has music education degrees from Capital University, the Kodály Institute at Capital and The Ohio State University. During the summer, Karla teaches Level III Kodály Methodology and Materials through the master’s program at the Kodály Institute at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio and has taught Levels at Colorado State University and Morehead State. An advocate for integrating technology into the music classroom,  she recently completed a Technology Endorsement and is a Technology Support Assistant at her school, as well as serving on the building leadership team. Karla has presented sessions on various topics at previous OAKE National Conferences, New Jersey Music Educators Conference (NJMEA), New York  State School Music Association (NYSSMA), MidWest Kodály Music Educator’s Conferences as well as other music education chapters around the country.
