Tyler Wessman-Conroy

J.D. candidate, 2022

Tyler is a first-year student at the School of Law. Tyler’s interest in law comes from his background in theology and his desire to explore the intersection of Catholic social teaching, religion, and public policy.

Tyler grew up in Cokato, Minnesota and studied accounting at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. After graduating he served as a full-time volunteer in Talanga, Honduras through the program Passionist Volunteers International. The work he engaged in while in Honduras ranged from teaching English, to fundraising and management of a sanitation project, to volunteering through various social ministries at the local Catholic parish.

The last decade of Tyler’s life has been dedicated to studying theology and ministry and teaching at Catholic high schools. He earned his Master of Divinity from Boston College’s School of Theology and Ministry from 2009-2012 and taught high school theology for seven years leading up to his admission to the University of St. Thomas School of Law. His time in Honduras and his study of theology, along with his work with students brings him to law school hoping to find a way to more directly make an impact on the common good and to work for social justice.

Most importantly, when he is not at St. Thomas, Tyler finds his greatest joy in spending time with his wife and two children, ages 3 and 1.
