Murphy Student Scholars
The Terrence J. Murphy Institute for Catholic Thought, Law, and Public Policy offers a fellowship program for full-time students in the J.D. or M.A. Catholic Studies students (CSMA) program at the University of St. Thomas.
Students accepted into this program are known as “Murphy Scholars.” They receive a stipend of $1,000 for each semester of their fellowship. Murphy Scholars participate in the full range of interdisciplinary programming offered by the Murphy Institute, from public talks to private faculty seminars and roundtable, where they have the opportunity to personally meet the Murphy Institute’s impressive array of guests. Murphy Scholars are given the chance to organize occasional art and social events to which both CSMA and Law Students are invited. Murphy Scholars may also be invited to assist in research projects connected with planning events, developing curricular materials, and public policy analysis.
Students enrolled full-time in either the J.D. or the Catholic studies Masters (CSMA) program at the University of St. Thomas are eligible to apply; acceptance of such students is contingent on demonstration of an interest in the work of the Murphy Institute and commitment to the goals of the Murphy Institute.
The application period to join the Murphy Scholar program for the 2019-2020 academic year will soon be open! Application requirements and details will be posted here once the admittance process has begun.
