German Consul General Herbert Quelle
Reception & welcoming remarks plus Q&A
Join German Consul General Herbert Quelle for a discussion about the path to German unity and its effects on our world over the past quarter century. Mr. Quelle will share insights from his 35 year career with the German Foreign Office, spanning posts from South Africa to Azerbaijan and now Chicago. A question and answer segment will follow the formal presentation, so bring along a question and prepare yourself for an exciting discussion!
Over the course of a diplomatic career spanning 35 years, Mr. Quelle has experienced firsthand the many changes to diplomacy in our lifetime, not least of which is the rapid increase in the speed of communication. Serving in the US (Los Angeles), South Africa, Cuba, Poland, the United Kingdom and as Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Mr. Quelle has proudly represented his country and its interests while retaining the critical capacity to engage with differing opinions. After one year at the German Consulate General in Boston in charge of academic affairs, he became Consul General in Chicago in July, 2014.
