Social Justice Living Learning Community (LLC)

Are you a student who has been engaged in social justice issues in the past and wants to continue that engagement through developing new knowledge and skills and taking advantage of new opportunities? Are you a student who wants to connect with and build community with other engaged students? Are you committed to being the change you want to see in the world? If so, we welcome you to the Social Justice living learning community.

This LLC brings together students who are interested in actively working to make the world a more just and peaceful place, especially by bridging the divides among people of diverse racial, ethnic, religious, political, socio-economic, gender, and sexual orientations and backgrounds.

While living together in a community in JPII Hall or Ireland Hall, LLC participants can choose from and take one or more of the following courses, each of which connects with social justice in its own unique way.

JPST 250: Introduction to Justice and Peace
SOCI 110: Social Problems
THEO 101: The Christian Theological Tradition

Outside of class, students from all three classes will join in community to socialize, to engage, and to embrace the quest for living a meaningful life through speakers, field trips, community service, dialogue experiences, and other social justice events and activities.
