Alexandra House is a community that takes care of its neighbors, safeguards their children, and gives to those less fortunate. They are a community that is not afraid to ask the hard questions. They are committed to ending domestic and sexual violence.

Alexandra House provides safety and support for women, men, and families escaping violent homes. Their services help survivors overcome the countless challenges to starting a new life: emergency shelter and long-term housing, legal assistance, 24-hour hospital support and help line, food shelf, weekly support groups, and 1-on-1 counseling. They work in 16 schools, the courts, with law enforcement and throughout their community. Tragically, the need for their services is increasing.

Last year they served 580 women and children and provided 11,713 nights of shelter, responded to over 8,000 crisis calls and reached out to 8, 616 students and teachers through school-based violence prevention programs.

The Luann Dummer Center for Women has decided to help again this year by donating 5 of our handmade blankets made collaboratively by the 'Yarn Tamers'. We are also accepting any kind of donation, specifically those listed on the Alexandra House Holiday Wish List which include items like hooded sweatshirts, sports equipment, and gift cards for teens, baby and toddler toys for kids, and items for new moms such as diaper bags and pacifiers throughout the month of December.  See their full Holiday Wish list here: http://www.alexandrahouse.org/ftpgetfile.php?id=471
