20th Annual Entertainment Law Initiative Writing Competition

Co-sponsored by the ABA Forum on the Enteertainment and Sports Industries, the competition is intended to provide law students with opportunities in the field of entertainment law. The winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship, tickets to the ELI event, tickets to MusiCares Person of the Year gala, tickets to the 60th annual GRAMMY Awards, and round-trip arifare to New York City and hotel accommidations. American Indian Law Review

Papers accepted on any legal issue specfically concerning Native Americans or other indigenous peoples. Cash prize of $1,000 and publication. Submission deadline is January 31, 2018. Complete rules.

Companion Animal Law Writing Competition

‌Sponsored by the American Kennel Club. Open to all law students. First prize, $2,500. Deadline to submit is March 30, 2018. Official rules (PDF).

College of Labor and Employment Lawyers Annual Law Student Writing Competition

Papers of 20 - 40 pages on a topic affecting labor and employment in the U.S. or abroad including public policy, practical implications of a case or doctrine, the need for statutory modification, or common law doctrine. First place $3,000 and possible publication in the ABA Journal of Labor & Employment Law. Submission deadline: June 15, 2018. Complete rules (PDF).
