Athena Hollins is a 2005 graduate of Reed College in Portland, Oregon.  She obtained her law degree from the University of St. Thomas in 2011.  After working as an associate attorney for several years with the MacDonald Law Firm, Athena left practice to work as an inside account manager for Thomson Reuters. In 2015, she became the Community Relations Coordinator for Thomson Reuters, managing the Eagan campus pro bono and diversity efforts.  In August 2017, Athena was named the MSBA’s Diversity & Inclusion Director.

Athena is active in various organizations, including the Ramsey and Hennepin County Bar Association Diversity Committees. She currently sits on the Ramsey County Bar Association Board, and acts as the Vice Chair on the District 5 Planning Council, which serves the Payne-Phalen neighborhood on the East Side of St. Paul.

 In her free time, Athena does Zumba, quilts, and paints with her four year old.

Athena V. Hollins

Mentor Externship is a year-long seminar course taken in fall and spring semester of the 2L year. The seminar integrates the student’s mentor fieldwork with small group coursework that reinforces the development of a trusted mentor relationship, core competencies and expectations of the profession, and other key relationships lawyers must manage. The course also incorporates individualized guidance to assist each student in his or her self-directed professional development journey.
