Coordinated the St. Thomas Criminal Law Association

Date & Time:

Wednesday, November 18, 2020
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM

Location:

Online / Zoom

Joseph Wright is a two-time felony offender, convicted of cocaine distribution in the late 1990's and first degree criminal sexual conduct in 2004. He has served more than eight years in many different MN correctional facilities. During those years, Mr. Wright has participated in a number of rehabilitative and restorative justice activities, including intensive boot camp, Stillwater's Alternative to Violence Project, and the MN Dept. of Corrections Exploring Justice program. Most recently, Mr. Wright completed the Adult and Teen Challenge Program in Rochester. With Professor Shea moderating, Joe Wright will candidly discuss, and take questions, regarding his tortuous path through the criminal justice system and his ongoing challenges in life. Some of what he will say will be unsettling and even disturbing, but it will provide the opportunity to gain insight into one person's experience with law enforcement, lawyers, and the courts, the realities of incarceration, and the difficulties of successful re-entry for the formerly incarcerated.

This event will be held over Zoom with Prof. Shea moderating.
