Your St. Thomas password does not expire. However you can change or reset it at any time using the options below. Note - Your User ID is your full username@stthomas.edu

Unfortunately, due to the sensitive nature of this security issue we cannot reset passwords over email and will need to verify your identity before assisting. This is in order to maintain University of St. Thomas security policies and in accordance with FERPA (more info here https://www2.ed.gov/policy/gen/guid/fpco/ferpa/index.html ).If none of the above options work, please give us a call at 651-962-6230 and we can reset it for you over the phone.

We supply multiple ways to meet this identity verification need:

  • You can call the Tech Desk directly at 651-962-6230 and verify your date of birth, your UST ID number and social security number.
  • Chat with us at https://remotesupport.stthomas.edu/ and request a Zoom identity verification. Then supply your face on camera in the Zoom at the same time as a valid form of photo ID including both your name (matching that on record) and a current photo
  • Supply a valid form of photo ID including both your name (matching that on record) and a current photo in person at one of our walk up locations: MPLS-TMH 203B, STP-O'Shaughnessy-Frey Library (more info on hours and locations here https://www.stthomas.edu/its/techdesk/ )

 

For Secondary Accounts (xst, ipc, xtra, xadm, cwb)

These student worker, administrator, and departmental accounts can reset their password from an on-campus desktop PC that is connected to the St. Thomas Internet. Simply press CTRL+ALT+DEL and select "Change a Password" to create and confirm your new password. If this does not work, contact the Tech Desk and they will be able to make a ticket for the account management team to reset the password. If you need a new secondary account account, discuss this with your supervisor or hiring manager who is authorized to make this request.

The Tech Desk is able to reset XST, IPC, and CWB accounts. Xadm and Xtra accounts will need to be escalated to security if a reset is warranted.

Password Requirements

When creating your password, it must follow the guidelines below:

  • at least 15 characters in length
  • at least (1) uppercase letter
  • at least (1) lowercase letter
  • at least (1) number
  • may not include your first name or last name
  • may not include  your username
  • may not include  the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.
  • may not include spaces or any of the following special characters: ! ? % * ; " ` # @ & , \ ; ---
  • may not be any of previous 10 passwords.
