GlobalProtect VPN Windows 32/64 bit
Windows 32/64 bit (First Time Use Only on personal computer)
1. Download and install the 32/64 bit software for Windows, located here.
**NOTE: Software installation is only necessary on personally owned devices.
UST laptops should have the VPN software pre-installed.
Not sure which version of Windows to choose? Click to install one, it will notify you if you should instead select the other.
2. Configure the GlobalProtect Application with the following information under the settings tab:
- Your UST username
- Your UST password
- Portal: ust-vpn.stthomas.edu
3. Click Apply
Once installed, you can connect and disconnect from the VPN using the icon from the toolbar.
On Windows, the icon will be in your system tray, lower right side of toolbar. You may have to click the arrow to expand the menu and see the globe icon. It has tiny shield when connected, a red X when disconnected. You can right-click to disconnect or reconnect, or look at the other options.
Open Remote Desktop Connection by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Remote Desktop Connection, and then, in the list of results, click Remote Desktop Connection.
In the Computer box, type the name of the computer that you want to connect to, and then click Connect. (The name of the computer will be the asset number e.g. A000XXXXX).
*Note: If the login credentials say that they are invalid, please try adding UST\ before your username. For example: UST\smit1234
Check the Status tab after clicking on the Global Connect icon in the Menu bar.
1. Navigate to the Windows "Control Panel"
2. Locate the "Programs and Features"
3. Locate the Global Protect Software
4. Ensure to select the software and click Uninstall
There is an idle time out of 2-hours and a session time out of 8-hours. Once disconnected you'll need to reconnect.
No, the installation of the software is a one-time step. Once installed you need only ensure your UST credentials are current and the Portal is properly configured.

Open the GlobalConnect application from the toolbar and choose the Settings tab (if this is not visible, go under View). Delete and enter your new password.
