Long Distance Calling

St. Thomas provides an authorization code for each faulty and staff member to make long distance calls.

When a hiring manager or supervisor submits a Request for Services (RFS) form to establish services for new faculty and staff, they may or may not include long distance services. If you did not receive a long distance code and require one, you may submit a RFS. Please include the department index code (required) as all long distance charges are billed to that department.

There is no monthly fee for having a code; charges will only accrue when the code is used. At the end of each month, a detailed report of calls and charges will be sent to you via e-mail.

Our domestic flat rate: $.06 per minute (all day, every day).

International rates will vary.

Since the university is tax exempt, you will not be charged tax.

How do I make a long distance call?

From a campus phone, dial:

8 + 1 + area code + phone number.
At the tone, enter your long distance code code and your call will complete.

To make an international call

Dial 8 + 011 for the U.S. exit code + Country Code + International Phone number. At the beep, you will need to enter your authorization code.

How will I be billed?

Each month, you will receive a call accounting report via e-mail, listing the calls made with your long distance code. If any of the calls were not work-related, you can reimburse the university at the Business Office in MHC 105. Don't forget to add your departmental account number when sending payments!
