Project planning is an integral part of technology implementation at the university. ITS continually manages a portfolio of 30-50 projects at any given time. Projects range from business process redesign for a department to campus-wide technology initiatives.
We define a project as a work effort that:
- Requires cross-functional participation
- Is unique or new, or a significant change
- Has specific time, cost, or performance requirements
- Has established objectives
- Has a defined ending
Each project in the portfolio follows ITS' adopted Project Management Methodology. While there are many formal project management models available, ITS has put together a methodology to suit the unique needs of the division as well as the University of St. Thomas. Projects are approved and prioritized based on the university's mission and strategic themes and priorities.
If you have a project in mind, but are not sure where to start, contact ITSProjects@stthomas.edu.
