CITI Program Instructions

The Department of Health and Human Services requires that investigators and their research teams understand ethical research standards. All investigators are responsible for safeguarding the respect and welfare of every research participant. In compliance with federal regulations, the University of St. Thomas requires all investigators fulfill an education requirement by completing online training through CITI Program prior to approval of their project by the IRB. Once an investigator completes the education requirement, he/she/they will receive a certificate that is active for four (4) years. Upon expiration, a refresher course must be completed to renew the certification.
