Oyera Scholars Event: How the Public Charge Rule Affects Immigrant Well-being

April 8, 2019
Public Charge Event Oyera

The Oyera Scholars Program provides law, social work and psychology students with the opportunity to explore how interprofessional collaboration can enhance service provision for immigrants.

This event is the first installment of a new continuing education series bringing together respected professionals from law, social work, and psychologists to present alongside one of our scholars on an interprofessional issue facing immigrants.

Oyera Scholar and MSW Student Kayla Hanzsek-Brill presented alongside Laura Melnick, lead attorney for the Economic Justice Unit at Southern Minnesota Regional Services, Inc (SMRLS), on the proposed public charge rule and how it has already begun affecting immigrant communities.
