Prof. Wright to present at the 3rd World Congress on Adult Guardianship


Prof. Jennifer L. Wright, Director of the Elder Law Practice Group at the IPC, will present Mediating in the Shadow of Guardianship: Possibilities and Pitfalls at the 3rd World Congress on Adult Guardianship on May 29. The World Congress will be held May 28 – 30 in the Washington, DC metro area. The panel discussion also features a presentation from Dominique Sanz-David with Bet Tzedek Legal Services (USA).                   

Prof. Wright’s panel will discuss some of the special challenges of elder law mediation, its potential as an alternative to guardianship/conservatorship, the risks it can pose to elders, and best practices to minimize those risks.

This unique event will bring together 120 speakers from 21 countries on six continents to discuss promising practices in the area of adult guardianship. This is the third World Congress on Guardianships; the first and second were held respectively in Japan and Australia.

The event features 42 general and breakout sessions, including a keynote presentation from Hon. Kathy Greenlee, Administrator for Community Living and Assistant Secretary for Aging, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
