The University of St. Thomas offers a wide range of majors and minors to prepare students well for admission to various health professions schools and eventual health care careers.  Because there is no specific major required for admission to medical, dental or other health professions schools, students are encouraged to choose a major based on their personal interests and abilities.  However, professional health programs will require that certain prerequisite courses are taken to qualify for admission. These prerequisites, which vary by health profession, and often by individual schools, may be taken as part of a major/minor, the St. Thomas core curriculum, or chosen as electives toward a degree.
