Welcome International Students!

How will I Register for Fall 2023 Courses?

  • Complete the Registration Readiness Module in the O&R Canvas course. It will guide you to:
    • Take any necessary placement assessments
      • Note: If you are a citizen of a country where the first language is not English, you do not need to take a foreign language placement test
    • Complete the Course Preference Form
  • Your academic counselor will register you for courses that are required to make progress in the core curriculum and your major.
  • You will have a meeting with your Academic Counselor to discuss your Fall 2023 registration, and what requirements they fulfill.
  • You have the option of making schedule changes after August 1, 2023, but these changes must be made with your Academic Counselor.
  • Before September 6, 2023, if appropriate and necessary, changes to your schedule could be made with an academic counselor. Examples of legitimate reasons would include a change of intended major or new placement scores that allow you to be placed in a different course.

How does Advising Work at the University of St. Thomas?

  • As a first-year international student, you will be assigned to either Kathy Hawks or Stephnie Fernando in the Academic Counseling office as your advisor.
  • Kathy and Stephnie work primarily with international undergraduate students and will provide you support and assistance as you transition to the University of St. Thomas.
  • When you officially declare your major, typically during sophomore year, you will be assigned to a new advisor who will be a faculty member in your major department.

Now please carefully review the content about the Core Curriculum. Also, make sure to visit the International Orientation webpage for more information on your orientation week.
