Support the Men's Cross-Country Team
The Tommies are excited about the 2016 season! Coach Pete Wareham has a strong group of runners who are ready to continue the program’s successful tradition. Meets remain very competitive, and fans are welcome to cheer on the runners! Follow the season online, and join them along the way.
Thank you to all alumni, parents and friends who have supported the program financially over the years. Your generosity has allowed Coach Wareham to make upgrades to the program in areas such as travel, recruiting, and equipment. For example, last year he purchased a Lite Speed Trainer, which is an apparatus that works in conjunction with a treadmill. The runner connects himself to a frame and, using different settings, can run at a percentage of his body weight. It is of great help to runners who are injured and coming back from injuries such as stress fractures or IT band syndrome.
Additionally, the outdoor track (and football field) are scheduled to be replaced at the conclusion of the 2016-2017 school year. The track was generously donated by an alumnus of the program and it was completed in 1986. Coach Wareham still remembers the first “event” on the track.
“It was in the fall, during halftime of a football game, and Doc had a group of the team run a 3K. Cold and windy. I still chuckle because we had someone from our team rabbit the event. He was supposed to go at least four laps but was passed after lap two! Everyone survived. So after 30 years, it is very much in need of repair.”
Gifts in support of the men’s cross-country team can be made on this page. If you have interest in making a larger gift to support the new track, please contact Tim Fischer at (651) 962-6978 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
