Get to Know The Impact Project
- The Impact Project promotes the awareness of areas in our community that need your support.
- We believe in the power of generosity.
- We believe in the impact we can all make at the University of St. Thomas.
What is it?
The Impact Project is a student-led, peer-to-peer initiative. We are making change and we want you to be a part of it!
The Impact Project is proud to collaborate with Great Lakes Northern Outfitters, a Minnesota company co-founded by St. Thomas alumnus David Burke ’13.

David and his co-owner, Spencer Barrett, agreed to create a St. Thomas version of their signature baseball cap with proceeds going to a special cause. In 2018-19, The Impact Project’s proceeds will support the sustainability fund at St. Thomas, an initiative that took shape as part of the university’s ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035.
In 2008, then-President Father Dennis Dease signed the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment. Since then, St. Thomas has reduced its carbon emissions by over 20 percent!
The Sustainability Fund
Many successful projects support this ongoing sustainability effort at the university, including the St. Thomas Stewardship Garden, The Pollinator Path, BrightSide Produce, and the newly established Bike Ambassadors program.
Almost half of every hat sale will be directed to the sustainability fund.
By supporting The Impact Project, you will help the Office of Sustainability Initiatives prepare more St. Thomas students with the skills needed to advance sustainability goals in the areas of waste reduction, water conservation, energy use and others. This hat will only be available during the 2018-2019 academic year. Make sure you get yours!
Stay tuned for updates throughout the year on the impact your generosity has made!
