In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), the University of St. Thomas Graduate Financial Aid Office is prohibited from providing information from your financial aid file to anyone other than you (the student). This restriction applies, but is not limited, to your spouse, your parents, or your employer.
Third party agencies (i.e. county/state agencies, scholarship/grant organizations, rental agencies, etc.) may require verification of your financial aid records. You may, at your discretion, provide signed authorization to the University of St. Thomas Graduate Financial Aid Office to release information about your financial aid file to a specific third party agency. It is preferred that your signed authorization be provided on the third parties actual form with contact information of that agency provided(i.e. address, phone, fax, email). It should be clear on the form what information they are requesting verificatoin for and that you authorize to be released. Once your signed authorization is received, the Graduate Financial Aid Office will only provide the requested information directly to the specified agency by fax or mail.
