Faculty Leadership Fellows Program

April 13, 2017 / By: Dr. Ann Johnson, Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement

St. Thomas is inaugurating a program to provide structured support and skill building for potential and current academic leaders at UST, as part of an overarching effort to develop a group of leaders capable of actualizing and sustaining change within and beyond the university. The program is a mix of meetings with key university officials (to get and in-depth understanding of key roles and functions), leadership development mini-workshops, and mentoring by administrative leaders. Leadership is defined broadly, understanding that faculty can lead effectively from a variety of roles and positions.

Target participants:  Post-tenure faculty who are interested in discerning whether or not to pursue academic leadership roles, and those desiring to expand leadership skill. Women and faculty of color are particularly encouraged to apply.

Scheduling: Faculty Fellows meet once per month on Wednesday mornings, 8:00 to 10:00 with meetings alternating between the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses; there are additional meetings with mentors and others arranged around participants’ schedules. Time commitment is approximately 5-6 hours/month. The program runs September through May.

To apply: If you are interested in applying, contact Ann Johnson, Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement by April 21 for more information. Those selected for the program will be notified by early May.
